Hi I`m Laura a 63 year old retired LPN that just got tiredof being over weight , in pain and very physically restricted. I`ve been over weight since my last child was born. (40 years ago.) Tried everything with varying degrees of success, but always gained it back. I`m off insulin since the first week after my lap band and have blood sugar readings better then I have ever seen!!!!! Severe arthritis keeps me from doing any weight bearing work out but I swim at least 45 minutes per day. I`ve lost 15lbs. in a month. Would love to hear from others. I`m fairly new with computers so bear with me. Laura Lee

Hi Laura,

I'm 62 years old. Your story is my story except for diabetes and I'm not retired yet. I do have the luxury of working from home though.

This is day four for me so not much to report except that I am so surprised that I did not have one stitch of pain through this whole process - gastric bypass. I had extreme nausea on day one but that's all. I am trying to get used to protein shakes. Is there anything that you especially like?

I am excited to hear about your 15 pound weight loss. It gives me an idea of what to expect. I'm excited about this whole journey....and happy to meet you.

Hi Laura!

Congratualations on your decision to have the lap band! To lose 15months is a wonderful feeling! Since you are a little restricted with your exercise do to arthritis you should be able to do some chair exercises. I too have had the lap band and I have lost all but 2lbs in 17months. But I have followed the rules and really have put in the time getting my workouts in. The key is to do both. So as long as you keep moving at your pace and be active you will have good results.
Good luck with the beginning of your new lifestyle....it is exciting to see the results on the scale!
