Hi Pam, You would be surprise to find some activities with the Wii Fit can be done with upper body only. You can sit in a chair and do the running exercise with your upper body and the cardio is very good for you. When I broke three toes at Christmas time, this is what I did for awhile. And I found other activities in the program that I could do sitting.

I heared the Wii active game is really great..If I didnot have to use crutches to walk I would try it...but I don't think it would be for me with my legs limitions I have..I wish my daughter would try it thought I think that would be great for her.

Congratulation on your return to exercise ............ I just got home from getting my Wii Active Game that came out today. I'm going to try it in a bit, before I go and do the WLS Support Group Meeting tonight at the Hospital. I will let you all know how the Wii Active is .........

I exercised for the first time in a very long time on Saturday. (Longer than I want to admit even here.) But it was a good workout and, dare I say it, I enjoyed it. Thirty minutes on the treadmill and I even ran (I had BL's Jillian screaming in my ear). Then 30 minutes on the machines and I was done. Sunday was a hurting day. Plans are to go back tonight. A friend also told me that she can have a friend join Bally's for $19. I'm considering it. Right now I'm just using the community center at a bargain rate. It would be fun to have someone to work out with.

Hi, My name is Lorraine, I am the Moderator for the Support Group Leader for the Nawls Network.  I had my Roux-N-Y in 2002 at age 57.  My WLS Surgeon let me go back to exercising at 3 months out from Surgery.  I was doing low impact aerobics,  I lost 156-lbs during the first 15-months.  By exercising 4-days a week I maintained that weight lost.  In September of last year, we bought a Wii Fit, and now I religiously exercise daily, for at least an hour.  When I had my 6 months check up with my Primary Doctor last month. I had lost another 5-lbs.  I am not an Avocate for exercise, but I have learned over these past 6-1/2 + years that I need to exercise  on a daily basis. Starting in May each year, here in So. California I swim on a daily basis also, usually until about Octorber.

This all sound great..I wish I could do more exerise but my legs won't allow it.. My arms now they get work out's..pushing my self in my wheelchair, I do some weight of 3 lbs and I even do have that rubber resistance bands that I kinda hang behind me and then pull my arms forward backwards what every way i can work them.I can do most thing if put my mind to it.. but legs no...I just can't do that much with them...just the basic. dr. don't want me to over do my legs cause then I can do much exerise for 2 or 3 later..

I have been swimming laps 45 minutes to 1 hour a day for a couple of years now- I feel great! BUT I have had to ramp it up recently to get into a continued calorie burn- I have added weight training 2x per week and walking (treadmill or beach depending on day of the week) in my target heart range for at least 1/2 hour 3-4 times a week and I am back on the "burn" again...I feel great and have a tremendous amount of energy and stamina at 60 years old- besides the nice muscles which are always a plus...it seems to take forever to get into my target heart range anymore and I guess that is a good thing
