- Good Morning, Well I had been thinking about the surgery for about a year going back and forth. Then a girl at work had it done and said so should I. Well long story short, I did it. I paid for this myself because I was ready and did not want to wait through all the process. I had to do another 12 weeks of monitoring for the insurance and I did not want to wait so low and behold, I paid my way and off I went. I had the LP as it was less expensive. The first few weeks I could feel there was something there. I went for my fills and I never seemed to get where I could really feel a difference. I did not go back for 8 months, didn’t realize this at the time, so I thought what a waste of money. What a failure I am! Well I went back in tears and asked for help. I hate shots so this is not pleasant for me. Looking back I wish I would have had GB as this would have kept me from eating sugar and all. But any way in the skinny of things, no pun intended. I am going back again Thursday for a follow up. I have been exercising 5 to 6 times a week for the last 9 weeks and have not lost a pound, but I am doing this for habit. I know I need to develop a habit of exercise, and I am going strong. Now if only I could get this eating thing in line, I will be a success. I guess I thought this was the cure all, but it is not and I need to work all my tools. I will make this a success, I just need to keep following up with the fills and maybe will have to go back in surgery to fix the problem. I am going on 2 years in September and am only down 22.5. So I am grateful to hear your success because one day I will be able to share mine as well. Janiece

Hi All
I just 'found' this site today and WOW -- HOW FANTASTIC.
I had the RNY gastric bypass 09/29/03 -- at my surgeon’s office I’m referred to as a ‘dinosaur’ -- wish they could have come up with a more flattering term. My WLS is the best thing I could have ever done for myself.
I had the extreme good fortune of actually meeting Katie Jay (and her ‘assistant’ – her very polite well mannered son) at a weight-loss conference about a year or so after my surgery. I immediately felt we were ‘kindred spirits’ and we communicated briefly for a period of time – unfortunately, as busy lives will sometimes cause -- our connection slowly dwindled. I’m so excited to have this opportunity to re-connect with Katie ‘on her turf’ and hopefully this time we can remain connected.
I’m looking forward to being a part of this community and want to be friends with everyone. If I miss sending you a friend request, then please send me one. I’M EXCITED.
