I am finally on the surgery schedule! I began speaking with my doctor in October 2008 and it has taken this long to get everything to be approved. My surgery date is Sept. 15th. My surgeon and I have both agreed that RNY is the best choice for me and I will begin the pre-op diet Aug. 25th. Currious.... did any of you use the VLCD "Skim Milk" diet? I can only drink skim milk three times per day (along with water) for three weeks.

Getting Ready for WLS: Need to make my decision RNY vs. LapBand
I have done my homework on the risks and benefits of both procedures but would really welcome some REAL LIFE stories / recommendations. If you are comfortable, please share the type of surgery you had and if you would recommend it to someone else. Although I would like to hear arguements for and against each procedure, please do not fill the blog with horror stories (I know there are some out there but try to use optimistic language:)

- Hey, My surgery went well. I am now p--- and have lost 24 lbs! I have my 1 week follow up tomorrow. :) all is well so far.

Thanks for your note. I was 331 pounds when I had the surgery. I think now, before your surgery, is the best time to get involved, and I commend you for doing that. You just can't be too prepared.
Make yourself at home here. I am going to ask my web guy why the computer seemed to already have your picture, etc. That really surprises me!
