I wonder if others find it common to have a lot of gas in the days following surgery. I know I sure have. And for all the gas, I've not had a bowel movement. Of course, the thing that comes to my mind is, what could there be in there to come out? Right? I mean, for two whole days before the surgery I had nothing but clear liquids (broth, sugar free popsicles, etc.) and since I've only had liquid protein drinks. Still, I would feel a little more normal if I could just have at least a little movement. Bladder going just fine. Do feel a little bloated, but that I think is from the gas. One more day of full liquids and I can start with blended foods. Look forward to that.

I did weigh today, and have lost 24 lbs. since I first visited the doctor on 25th September. Donna and I have been walking a mile each day at the local track (yes, even the day after surgery). My dad couldn't believe I felt up to going, but I did, and it made me feel better. Here's to brighter and lighter days. (He says taking another sip of the giant water bottle.)

I think gas is pretty normal. Also it will take a while before you have normal bowel movements. When you can eat regular food, make sure you get lots of whole grains in your diet. In just a couple of months you're going to feel so amazing and better!
