The Stigma Against Weight Loss Surgery

No matter how successful you are with your weight loss, you are "less than" because you had weight loss surgery and it seems to me that we need to take it out of the dirty back alleys and give it the respect that it has long deserved. Nothing has ever worked for me after 30 years of obesity to help me maintain 7 years as a thin person until weight loss surgery came into in my life so this is my video making fun of how many people treat this procedure and it's time the reputation has changed!

Joni, I had no idea how much the professionals had to go throught too until a few years ago. A very repected doctor told me that his physician father said "Don't you dare get involved in that field" and he saw the beauty of giving people their lives back. That's why I started with Oprah who could change so many minds so quickly. Of course if you do enough WLS procedures, you'd be taking away some of those knee replacement doc patients. I see the next very important part as the follow up to help the patients deal with the perfect life they thought they would get. So many poor souls left out in the wind to fend for themselves and don't even get me started on the insurance companies that would rather protect their earnings for the fiscal year instead of 30 years down the road. Thank you for what you do....from the bottom of my heart.

Yvonne,
Working in the helathcare field I see the "less than" attituded among healthcare professionals. WLS is the gold standard for weightloss for those that qualify yet within the healthcare community many still consider it a dirty word. My personal quote was "My dream is to help people who sufer with obesity; I will pursue this dream fiercely" but today I change it to include "remove the negative stigma of WLS". Thanks for this video
